The Great Opunake Yarn Bomb

Opunake Township Tasman Street, Opunake, Taranaki
November 2017

Opunake Lakeside Lions project. A colourful explosion of knitting and crochet has hit Opunake's main street in late October through early November 2017 Thanks to Taranaki Steam punk's Alec Fuller for photo's

A wander through the main street of Opunake and you would see the community's creativity! Bright, colourful and vibrant! Crafty folk throughout the town and beyond that have been feverishly knitting, crocheting and felting for the Great Opunake Yarn Bomb, which coincided with the Taranaki garden festivals and the Taranaki National Art Awards. The power poles on the main street, trees, buildings and the bike racks outside the library were all festooned with colour and the street was awash with knitted and crocheted bunting.
